We are open Monday, Tuesday Thursday and Friday from 10am until 3pm.

Only two customers allowed in the shop at the same time, masks must be worn and hands sanitised on entry.

Deliveries and Pick ups

These are done every Tuesday by arrangement with ReStore.  Furniture donations will need to be left outside the property for collection, covered in inclement weather.    Deliveries also can only be brought to the outside of the property.  Customer must make own arrangements to carry furniture inside.  If no one available to receive the delivery, the furniture will not be delivered but returned to storage and a further delivery fee will be required.

Restoring Furniture & Lives

Our shop and workspace are more than just a meeting place. We want to build community, fighting loneliness and social isolation.

Building Community

We provide volunteer placements for local people who want to build their work skills and self-confidence, as part of the journey to getting a job.

Bringing Hope

Everyone is welcome! Pop in and see our great range of furniture and furnishings, or get involved as a volunteer – we’re sure to have something for you.

We have a store located at 62 – 64 Peckers Hill Road, Sutton, St Helens, WA9 3JQ with a showroom and workshop – why not pop down and see us? We’re open 10:00 – 3:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday!

About Changing COMMUNITIES

Born out of a desire to harness the business ideas of the community to benefit the community, Changing Communities is a social enterprise. We aim to do what our vision says – to positively help change communities and improve people’s lives.

That’s why we are a social enterprise – we put people first and all our projects have a social purpose. Our profits support The Hope Centre, our charity partner. Through over a decade working with people in St Helens, The Hope Centre has seen, experienced and supported the needs of local people and communities and continues to do so. Changing Communities is the next step in helping people and communities to make new life choices.

Working in partnership with local organisations, we will positively support people and communities to help them develop their sense of belonging, increase local involvement and help them have the confidence to make new life choices.

Changing Communities is not an ending, but a stepping stone on a person’s journey. We help them move on in their journey, one life and one step at a time.

What our volunteers say

"I knew as soon as I walked in that I wanted to be here. It helps me to feel part of something as I'm rather isolated and [ReStore] makes me feel like I'm worth something to somebody. I smile and laugh when I'm there and I'm accepted for who I am."

"It gives me a reason to get up in a morning".

"I love working at the [ReStore] project, knowing we are doing our bit for the environment. Also with me suffering from mental ill health and not going out or meeting people the role is great. I was wary at first meeting the other volunteers but Julie put me at ease, she is amazing."

A very varied job which suits my temperament. A nice group of people to work with. A good cause also and I feel like I can help some of my fellow vols by passing on my experience both with DIY skills and also work and life skills.

"It's given me a sense of purpose, a break away from my carer role".

We are keen to taken wooden furniture such as chairs, tables, cabinets, storage items and can collect donations by arrangement however there are a few things we cannot accept, particularly soft furnishing without their relevant fire labels or electrical goods.

Do you have a piece of furniture you’d like upcycled? We can bring new life to old items and are full of ideas about what can be done! If you want a unique piece for your home that will stand out from the crowd, please get in touch. Could you be our next success?

Want to be part of our journey? If you share our passion for our community and have a couple of hours to spare each week we'd love to meet with you to get to know you better and discuss this with you!
